Whilst visiting Singapore in January 2013 we visited Raffles Hotel. Its such a beautiful hotel and I’d definitely visit for lunch next time I’m in Singapore as I’m not sure my budget would stretch to actually staying in the hotel!
The hotel was first built in the early 1830s by Robert Scott as a private house, however it was famously used to house senior Japanese military officers during the Japanese invasion of Singapore in 1942, and during which time the Raffles staff buried the silverware in the palm court to keep it safe! After a large scale renovation in 1989 the hotel reopened its doors on 16 September 1991 and has since won best hotel in Asia consecutive times.

We’re going to Singapore in nearly two weeks, but I’m afraid we can’t afford to stay there :(! What a pitty. The place looks so marvelous!
